The A is A Health Podcast is an online radio show/podcast that is dedicated to providing our listeners with the truth about health, fitness and other wellness topics. It is always unscripted, sometimes unpredictable, eye opening, and educational. Your hosts, Andy Cieply, Josh Lewis and Dr. Ricky McDonough have over 40 years of combined fitness experience as personal trainers, fitness scientists, and thought leaders.


The fitness world is filled with countless amounts of supplements and workout programs that simply don’t work or are even dangerous which prays upon beginners and advanced athletes every day. Andy, Josh and Ricky got together and created the A is A Health Podcast as a platform to weed through all of the false information and provide our listeners with what we know is the truth and what will lead you to success along your fitness journey. By listening to the A is A Health podcast, you will learn all of the science-based tips and tricks we use on ourselves and the hundreds of clients we have trained throughout the years.

Founder of A is A Health Podcast/Nutrition Consultant

Andrew has passionately pursued health and wellness for nearly 20 years. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences from Utica College and a Physical Therapist Assistant license from HCCC. He loves educating, and helping people find new ways to look at their health and movement potential. Andrew’s interests outside of the gym include a love of rock climbing, hiking, and camping in the Adirondacks.

Josh Lewis

A is A Health Podcast Host/Founder of Co-Movement Gym

Josh has 10+ years of experience as a personal trainer and has a passion for coaching and training clients to reach their fitness goals. Josh is certified in the following: OPEX Program Design, OPEX Assessment, OPEX Life Coaching, was an Ido Portal student for 3 years, attended the Ido Portal Corset Cert, Ido Portal Movement X Cert. and studied with him personally in Boulder Colorado.  He attended Utica College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. Josh became an entrepreneur at the age of 25 opening his first gym. He is the founder of Garage Gym and Co-Movement Gym. Josh focuses on providing high level private training both in person coaching and online remote coaching at Co-Movement Gym. He has coached hundreds of clients throughout his fitness career, and hopes he can help everyone that listens to this podcast live a healthier life. Josh also has his blue belt in Jiu Jitsu, competed in the 2008 CrossFit Games and is an avid open water swimmer in the Adirondacks.

A is A Health Podcast Host/Expert in Biological Sciences/Marketing Consultant

Ricky pursued both chemistry and fitness throughout his entire life, and has 15 years of experience as a fitness science researcher and fitness consultant. He earned his Ph.D. and Master’s in Biochemistry and Physical Chemistry from Syracuse University. He currently works as a Material Research Scientist for Indium Corporation and as a consultant for Co-Movement Gym. Ricky has always had a passion for the fitness world ever since he was a child. He has a passion for educating individuals about fitness related topics, and helping people achieve their goals. Ricky was an officer in the military, Tae Kwon Doe instructor, college athlete, and will always be a fitness enthusiast.

Why "A is A" for a health podcast?

The name comes from Aristotle’s Law of Identity, simply put; reality has an identity and is therefore knowable. Our goal here on the podcast is to take that knowledge and make it accessible and understandable too! Ever get stuck in a fitness rut and lose interest? Or train so carefully and still get injured? Well if it’s possible to happen then we know it’s possible to understand and learn from as well. The A is A team has new conversations every week on fitness, diet, movement, and overall well-being. With all the noise on social media, the “quick fixes” and “fad diets” it can be hard to know what works and how to take care of your body to keep it healthy and strong.
